Accidents can and do sometimes happen, and people sometimes get injured. When an accident happens, sometimes you may have just seconds to act in order to save a life, and that is not the time to be panicking, or trying to learn how to perform life-saving techniques.
This course is aimed at anyone that wishes to learn and practice the essential skills for saving lives, in all age groups of patient
The course will give confidence and practice in the emergency life-saving techniques that are required in those first few minutes before professional help arrives.
Course contents
The course covers treatment for
- unresponsive, non-breathing babies, children and adults (CPR)
- unresponsive, breathing babies, children and adults (Recovery position)
- choking babies, children and adults
- serious and minor cuts/bleeding
- clinical shock (blood volume loss)
- other injuries/conditions that students have concerns about as time permits
Certificates will be issued following successful completion of this course by the students. Assessment of the students skills will be by continuous assessment by the trainer. Where a student is unable to demonstrate competency (for example, someone unable to kneel on the floor to carry out CPR), a certificate of attendance may be issued.
Please note that the contents of this course are not sufficient to demonstrate competency under the OFSTED statutory framework for registered childminders. It may be useful as a means of maintaining competency and refreshing/updating skills for those so registered however in between tri-annual requalification.
