Emergency Paediatric First Aid Courses (QA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF))The "Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid" course constitutes module 1 of the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. It does not constitute a full Paediatric First Aid course, and does not in itself meet the full requirements of the Ofsted* and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines** for people who work with, or look after, children. It is now a requirement, with the introduction of "Millie's Law"*** and "Millie's Mark"**** that this course is a mandatory minimum requirement for all Level 2 and Level 3 qualified childcare staff, but this does not change the requirements of the Ofsted and EYFS regulations that at least one person with a full Paediatric First Aid qualification is to be on the premises at all times that children are present. The Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid course will give confidence and practice in the emergency life-saving techniques that are required in those first few minutes before professional help arrives. A Level 3 regulated qualification offers significant advantages over non-regulated courses. Course credits (1 credit for this course) can be placed directly onto your Personal Learning Record for easy credit transfer for those studying towards higher qualifications, such as qualifications in Childcare, and you are assured of a high quality in the delivery of the training due to the quality assurance processes in place. Ofsted and Local Authorities will recognise an Ofqual regulated qualification without any further approvals. Our Paediatric First Courses are trained by fully qualified trainers, all of whom have many years experience in treating children and babies, and who have a vast experience in childcare settings and schools so that they can bring real life experiences to the training room. Our courses have a great deal of practical elements, so that learners can practice, and become comfortable with the skills they may have to use. Course contentsThe QA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid course covers:
Course duration6 hours contact contact learning hours (CLH), minimum, not including breaks (8 hours total qualification time (TQT)), typically over 1 day. CertificationCertificates of competence will be issued following successful completion of this course by the learners. Assessment of the learners skills will be by continuous assessment by the trainer/assessor followed by a multiple choice assessment set by Qualsafe Awards as our awarding organisation. Certificates are valid for 3 years, with the strong recommendation that the qualified person undergoes an annual refresher course of at least three hours. Please note that in order to be awarded a certificate of competence in this course, learners must be able to demonstrate that they are able to perform the relevant skills - it remains the employers responsibility to ensure that learners sent on this course are physically and mentally fit enough to be able to perform the skills that may be required of them during their duties. Re-QualificationLearners may re-qualify their Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification by attending another Emergency Paediatric First Aid course during the period of validity of their certificate, or by progressing on to a full Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid.
