Safe Moving and Handling (QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling)The Level 2 Award in "Safe Moving and Handling" is designed to educate learners in the principles and practices of safer manual handling of objects. It outlines the reasons for safer manual handling, its legal requirements, and informs learners about the process of completing risk assessments to reduce the risk of harm. Learners will get the opportunity to practice the principles of safer manual handling on their own; using equipment; and also as part of a team. The qualification is designed for people who have to carry out manual handling tasks in their place of work. This includes industrial and office based environments. It is suitable as an introduction for those starting work that involves manual handling activities, those returning to such work, or simply as safety refresher training. A Level 2 QCF regulated course offers significant advantages over non-regulated courses. Course credits (2 credits for this course) can be placed directly onto your Personal Learning Record for easy credit transfer for those studying towards other QCF qualifications, such as a Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely, or a Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, and you are assured of a high quality in the delivery of the training due to the quality assurance processes in place. Course contentsThe Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling course covers:
Course duration6 hours tuition time (minimum) not including breaks (10 guided learning hours), typically over 1 day. Certification Certificates of competence will be issued following successful completion of this course by the learners. Assessment of the learners skills will be by continuous assessment by the trainer/assessor followed by a multiple choice assessment set by Qualsafe Awards as our awarding organisation. These certificates have no expiry period, but it is considered best practice for employees to demonstrate their awareness of Manual Handling regularly (typically annually) and/or to undergo regular refresher training, perhaps every 3 years. It remains the employers responsibility to carry out suitable risk assessments and identify their training needs and frequency of re-training from that. Please note that in order to be awarded a certificate of competence in this course, learners must be able to demonstrate that they are able to perform the relevant skills - it remains the employers responsibility to ensure that learners sent on this course are physically and mentally fit enough to be able to perform the skills that may be required of them during their duties. Re-QualificationLearners may re-qualify their Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling by attending another 1 day course at any time as determined by their employers risk assessments.
