Emergency First Aid for Adults

Accidents can and do sometimes happen, and people sometimes get injured. When an accident happens, sometimes you may have just seconds to act in order to save a life, and that is not the time to be panicking, or trying to learn how to perform life-saving techniques.

This course is aimed at anyone that wishes to learn and practice the essential skills for saving lives, in adults.

The course will give confidence and practice in the emergency life-saving techniques that are required in those first few minutes before professional help arrives.

Course contents

The course covers treatment for

• unresponsive, non-breathing adults (CPR)
• unresponsive, breathing adults (Recovery position)
• choking adults
• serious and minor cuts/bleeding
• shock (blood volume loss)
• other injuries/conditions that learners have concerns about as time permits

Course duration

3 hours tuition time, typically over 1/2 a day.

Please note that the contents of this course are not sufficient to demonstrate competency as a First Aider in the workplace.

Certification

Certificates will be issued following successful completion of this course by the learners. Assessment of the learners skills will be by continuous assessment by the trainer. Where a student is unable to demonstrate competency (for example, someone unable to kneel on the floor to carry out CPR), a certificate of attendance may be issued.

Certificates are valid for 3 years.

Re-Qualification

Learners may re-qualify this qualification by attending another Emergency First Aid for Adults, or an Emergency First for All Ages course during the period of validity of their certificate.
