Dementia Friends Information SessionsPeople with dementia get by with a little help from their friends. Anybody can become a Dementia Friend. It‘s just about understanding a bit more about dementia and the small things you can do to help people with the condition. People with dementia want to carry on going about their daily lives and feeling included in their local community, but they sometimes need a helping hand to do so. Dementia Friends learn a little bit about what it‘s like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action. This could be helping someone find the right bus or being patient in a till queue if someone with dementia is taking longer to pay. Every action counts. Being a Dementia Friend isn‘t about volunteering or fundraising (though you can do that too if you want). To become a friend you just need to watch the Dementia Friends short video or join a face-to-face information session in your area. Here at RescueSkills, we are delighted to support this initiative by the Alzheimers Society by hosting some Dementia Friends face-to-face sessions at our training centre in Fareham, Hampshire. We‘ll provide some tea, coffee and biscuits, and a friendly environment in which to come and learn some more about dementia with like-minded friends. We can also come to your workplace, or a community group, or even a group of friends wanting to know a little more. Although it is possible to just turn up to some of these sessions, we'd rather know how many we are catering for, and wouldn't want to disappoint you by having to turn you away from full sessions, so please book online via the Dementia Friends website, from the links provided below. You will need to register on the Dementia Friends website in order to book a space, but this is a simple process. There is no charge for these sessions - yes that's right, they're absolutely FREE!
